What curtains do I need in my living room?

I need to get curtains for my living room but am unsure what color they should be. I made a color palette of the colors I want my living room to be but I can't picture anything together. I was thinking of getting some sheer curtains in either a cyan or a light yellow orange color and layering them with white? I don't feel like either of these are the best options but I have no other ideas. I also have 4 cats and one who lovessss to scratch curtains (whether they reach the ground or not) but that doesn't fully deter me from sheer as I love getting as much light throughout the day as possible. The red and blue throw pillow will be changed eventually and I dream of being able to find an affordable rug I like in the future! Any other advice for the space is welcome and appreciated!
