Recently moved in, still need to repair holes and paint anyway. Wanted a second one at first cause we have a lot of little things to put up there, but I also fear it’ll look too cluttered. Better to just stick with one and move it down a bit?

Stick with one, move it down and keep it simple. The focus is your TV and not the decor above.
Reposition, skip the second shelf. It’ll look too cluttered with another shelf.
Remove it altogether.
