Finally went to Soufflot last vacation with my father. He doesn’t really drink red wine, so he challenged me to find one that would blow him away. When I saw this on the wine cart for a good price, I knew we had to get it. I can report back that he was happy with my choice, and it hit the spot for both of us. And was not the last bottle of Mugneret-Gibourg that we had this trip.
Tasting note:
Cherry Coke, ripe red fruits, floral, vanilla, nice acidity to support the ripeness, and a long finish.
While still super young, the warmth of 2022 made this already super approachable, quite smooth and full, but that acidity really gives it the freshness it needs. Maybe not the most complex vintage for Mugneret-Gibourg, but huge drinkability. It almost feels hedonistic.
