My front door is not centered with the hallway you walk into. Which do I line the rug up with? This is bothering the crap out of me.

I know my decor style is not for everyone but I like my eclectic stuff and this house is still new. I haven’t finished decorating. There’s too much white. I’m working on it!

I would get a bigger rug for the entrway

If it were me, I’d get a wider rug and center it with the space.

Change to round rug to offset all the hard angles. That will take care of your problem all around!!

  4. Yes go wider and center to the space.

I think it’s less noticeable coming into the house than it would be if it was centered on the door and you were leaving the house or just looking towards the door.

A much larger rug that fills the space so that the rug can be centered, while also serving the purpose of a front door mat.

The runner is the issue. Rectangular large rug will work beautifully in front of door and not make you crazy being off center. 😜

Yeah, go with a rug that would act as a landing pad for your entryway like a 5 x 7 or 6 x 8, in opposed to a runway.

That rug is way too small, you could use that rug possibly in front of your kitchen sink or in a bathroom

Large wall to wall for the entry. Use the runner centered further up into the hallway.

Out of the two options you said I would center it with the door

I legit gasped when you showed the photo of the “off center in front of the door” photo. Whoever designed that part your house should not design houses any more. I need symmetry!!!

That’s hard. I’d maybe put a mat in front of the door then pull the rug back and center it.

I’d get a bigger rectangular rug for the full entry space and put the runner elsewhere. Snd I’d put a small side table to the left of the door to balance out that wall.

A larger rug would fix the problem.

  16. GREYSPACE1

I would get a bigger rug and a bigger table tbh.

Much bigger rug, switch your console table to the other side and get a bench/shoe rack where it currently is to balance the space

Get a coat closet or something similar for the left, it will make the dimensions in the space more symmetrical and also gives you a place to hang your coats.

get a wider and longer rug, then center the hallway

  20. Vast_Aptitude_4848

A bigger rug centered in the whole area and then a plant or something to the left of the door for visual balance. (Also my condolences to you because this asymmetrical door placement would drive me bonkers!)

Many people square up a rug with a door, but we don’t walk in that way. No one opens a door and walks directly in. We walk in as we open the door, so to the handle side of center. Centering with your hallway works best for actual use as a rug to catch outside detritus before it ends up on the floor in the house.

Bigger question would be why didn’t they center the door. lol

  23. JackRosiesMama

Buy a wider rug and center it with the hallway.

You just need a bigger rug, not a runner
