Had some good friends over for dinner and served a 2006 Hendry Red with lamb stew, mashed potatoes, and a fennel salad. I bought this bottle at the winery and now so many years later I am drinking it in Norway. Its an interesting blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cab Sauv, Merlot, and Cab Franc. I was a bit worried given this bottle had travelled long and far with me, but it held up quite nicely. Great nose – I could smell a pleasant combination of leather, oak, earth, and red fruit. Deep red color, Upfront the flavor in the mouth was a bit like a mixture of chocolate, plum, and herbal notes that went well with the lamb stew, but no lingering complexity. Overall, solid but wondering if it may have been a bit past its prime drinking window.
