Strawberry, raspberry, earthy, and a lingering flavour like bitter orange or cranberry at the end. The last notes connect me to Northern Rhone Syrah (La Rollande Crozes Hermitage) and a cooler/high elevation Grenache I tried from Spain and I’m puzzled about how to describe this. My wife calls it acid, I’m wondering if it’s more accurately described as a tannin/astringency? It’s an aspect of these 3 wines that I didn’t particularlly like, and it seems to be something I sometimes pick up in lighter bodied reds. In this bottle, I didn’t notice it during dinner where it felt well balanced and quite round, I only picked it up in a glass I finished afterwards.
