Trying to figure out if this picture is too big for the fireplace or if it’s too depressing for this room. Please feel free to criticize any part of this room. It’s a work in progress for our antique farmhouse, which is difficult for me to decorate since I love colors! Shoutout to my lil shrimp newborn taking over the space🦐

I like it. I would line the top of the painting up with the top of the windows. Over all I find the symmetry of the windows, candlesticks, and painting to be very satisfying.
The lamps behind the couch don’t make much sense to me. I’d put a similar sized pair of sconces in between the windows behind the couch and get rid of the standing lamps. They look like they’re trying to peer over your shoulder and read your book. Also it’s less for the kiddos to knock down once they realize they can push things with their feet too 😱 ask me how I know
I think it looks nice. I don’t agree with the person who recommended lining up the frame with the windows. I would offset it as I think it looks nicer that way. I don’t think the painting is too large. It’s good size for that spot. I love the built in for the TV making two focal points. I don’t have that in my LR so I got rid of the TV in there lol.
The picture isn’t depressing. It doesn’t coordinate well with the flowers picture.
The 8 candlesticks on or next to the fireplace doesn’t make decorative sense. Candles on the fireplace were a practical response to living in a pre electric home.
Everything else about the room is cute.
If it were my fireplace/mantle I would have 3 candles on one side, and something else on the other side. 6 candles is a lot and the symmetry is fussy.
Edited to add beautiful house jealous of all the windows!
Yes. I don’t mind the candlesticks on the mantle, but the additional ones on the floor are overkill. Add a basket with blankets or a group of ceramic pots, a small chair or stool, potted plant, etc, instead.
