New home starting from scratch. Debating whether to keep the window valance length or go for a longer curtain. Our couch is pretty tall so much of a long curtain would go behind the couch.
Planning to add more pillows on the couch and wall art, etc… it is on the list. 🙂

It’s not 1992, so toss the valance.
It is recommended to choose long floor-length curtains. Long curtains that extend from the ceiling to the floor will make the living room appear more spacious and taller.
this is so wildly off topic but i need to know where you purchased that couch. it looks like exactly what i want in a couch. though i think its too large for this living room OR you should downsize (or delete) the coffee table
I think valances – outside of maybe a kitchen – generally look dated. I love your space and I think there are so many options. Vertical blinds if space even.
A pop of color in some long textured (patterned?) curtains.
Such great lighting!
ETA: You could also use a stained glass film (just sticks on) on the door window.
Long curtains would make this corner feel way more cozy and finished than the valance does.
The valence doesn’t go well with living room furniture. Could go with Roman shades; get same color as coffee table.
