So this is our main bedroom and the layout is… tricky.
We’ve got this alcove where the bed goes, and it only fits a double bed. No space for bedside tables or anything, so it just feels like the bed is shoved into a hole and I don’t know how to make it look intentional. I’ve tried putting the bed on the opposite wall, but then the whole room feels really cluttered and even smaller, so that doesn’t seem like a good option either.
I’m really into mid-century style, but right now it just looks cramped and a bit off, especially for the main bedroom.
Has anyone dealt with a similar setup or have ideas on how to make it work (layout, storage, decor, etc.)?
Also, any recommendations for affordable places in the UK to buy nice decor/furniture (mid-century style or similar)?

As to the last part of your question, charity shops are a good bet. My mum’s bought some superb furniture from British heart Foundation.
Alcove: perhaps a reading nook?
