For the time being, this living room is the only place for the TV. We want the couch or possibly a loveseat facing the TV. The only way I can see is having the TV over the fireplace which would make it too high and not ideal. I just don't see a different way.

Forgive my janky finger drawing! The pathway between the two doors in the room acts as a sort of highway that splits the room into two spaces.
Possibly you could embrace it— truly define the sitting/TV-watching area as its own sub-room using a rug (yellow) and by turning the backs of the furniture against the walkway. It’s a large enough room that you should have plenty of space. The TV could fit in the bottom-right corner that way— probably most comfortably either on a wall mount with the ability to swing it away from the fireplace wall a little, or on a corner credenza. A couch and an armchair can all see the TV easily that way, if seating for 3 or 4 people is enough for you. There’s probably even room to add a pouf or small ottoman opposite that armchair/near the fireplace that could double as another seat for conversation when needed.
That leaves you space for a cute little reading corner in the top right of the room. You can also use large plants (green) or any other accessory in the remaining corners to help the disparate parts of the room speak to each other.
