I rent rent so I can't do any major changes. The way my bathroom is there is not much space. I cannot stand that the towel rack is above the toilet. I have no space to put a basket on the toilet tank. There are double doors on the wall across because my ease and dryer are there. I was thinking about putting one or two floating shelves above the toilet but it might be too high. I want more decor but with minimal space I'm not sure where I could put anything else. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Easy fix here. There’s some practical high impact design choices [laid out here in this blog article](https://luxslate.com/blogs/home-design-and-decor-blogs/luxury-principles-for-high-impact-bathrooms). For example, I’d immediately go for the updated curtain placement recco and add an actual rug and countertop tray (remove that decor bc off limited space
1. The biggest visual impact in a small bathroom is the shower curtain. Is there a reason you’re currently going with a solid color the same shade as the wall? You can go chic but subtle (think a pretty cream linen with a faint stripe) or bold statement (graphic prints, novelty, deep colors, richly textured, etc etc etc) or anywhere in between. Amazon has literally thousands for under $30. For big impact, you can even consider adding a second rod directly in front of the first and adding window curtains to the sides on their own rod for a layered look. It’s totally extra, but it definitely can bring major sophisticated vibes for very little cost/effort.
2. Is there room to use XL command hooks as towel hooks on either side of the laundry doors (and are you allowed to remove the towel bar)? That would open a lot of decor options.
3. Budget…? If you’re not allowed to paint, some peel & stick wallpaper could be an option on an accent wall, but it can get a bit expensive. It never does amazing in bathrooms, but if you have a fan to vent shower humidity (which is required by code), it’ll usually last for a few years before you get any major peeling issues in my experience.
4. This is a bit of a janky hack, but I swear on my life that it works: Get some FOAM trim boards at the hardware store, cut them with mitered corners to the size of your mirror, glue them to the mirror using hot glue, and caulk the inside seam and the mitered corners with paintable caulk. You can leave them white or paint them any color, even like a faux wood grain if you’re feeling adventurous. The hot glue and caulk both come cleanly off the glass with a widget/glass razor when you want them off, but they’re on there pretty solidly until you do. Framed mirrors can totally upgrade the look of a simple bathroom.
5. Hear me out: Splurge on some gorgeous cabinet knobs. Even crazy fancy ones are only like $30 for a pair. They’re high-touch objects that you’ll notice more than you think, and there are so many options out there. Totally replaceable back to the originals when it’s time.
