The **2022 Acumen ‘Moutainside’ Sauvignon Blanc [Sonoma County**] did not disappoint. This 800 cs bottling comes in a heavy, clear trophy style vessel and is closed under DIAM10, and apparently can age (given the winemakers pedigree at Latour, Chappellet etc.). 13.9% abv, with a cepage nearly all S-B but there is a dollop of viognier (!) in here too, from two high altitude estate vineyards – Attelas and Edcora. For my tastes it shows lemon, peach and stone, with a long finish and bright zip. Medium/light body and for my perception, is showing California levels of fruit, rather than Loire grass, Bordeaux waxiness, or NZSB catpee. I’d assign this an **A-** on my card, and it’s worth the mid teens price it’s now fetching on closeout shelves.

There are rumors that Acumen has had to resort to selling some of their barrel wine via Cameron Hughes, so bottled wines ending up in the cheap seats makes sense, and probably pays the producers more than de Negoce / CamX or whatever moniker he sells under now. (And I like him, having bought more of his recent CamX lot # output recently too)
