This is our kitchen. I inherited a home and my dad never updated. Which I’m glad for. I want the house to keep its character, 70’s tri-level. The carpeted floor is coming out and the walls will be painted. My biggest issue is food storage and I’m open to ideas re:flooring and paint. The furniture and art our ours and they will be staying. What would you do?

This looks exactly like my house did when we bought it in1975. I loved it. We put hardwood floors in. I also had a storage cabinet on one end. About a year before we moved we put in the moveable shelves. I don’t think it freed up anymore space but things stopped getting lost in the back of the cabinet. Is there a garage behind the wall that the table is on? A friend put a small closet on the wall. The door was a sliding door and the cabinet sat in the garage. He cut a hole in the wall and put shelves behind it. It was about two cans deep. Maybe a foot deep. Another neighbor liked the idea and put a closet on that wall. It was the entire length of the wall. Neither one was very deep but it sure added storage space to the kitchen. I miss this house. I love the ranch I’m in but I still wish I had this tri-level.
