We installed the countertops and my wife wants to do the backsplash with the same granite. The designer thinks it will be too harsh and stand out too much and take away from the calmness of our white kitchen and calm cabinets. She suggested we do a soft tile. My wife had always wanted to do the granite though but is afraid maybe she is right but can't tell. The first 3 pictures are what our kitchen looks like currently. The next 3 are what Chat GPT thinks it will look like with the granite countertop.

I think it is too harsh personally, but if you both like it then go nuts!
Definitely go with a tile. The granite would be overwhelming as a backsplash.
I like granite as a backsplash, no grout to clean.
But maybe a softer granite
