i plan on getting bookcases this week as well as a new pendant light and coffee table however something about this is throwing me off. Any suggestions?
I would suggest keeping the plant corner near the window as it is, it looks so cozy and classy. But definitely do the wall shelves on center and bookshelf on one side.
P.S. love your window nook!

The plan for this space is absolutely beautiful, and I can see where you’re headed really clearly! Right now, the biggest difference between where you are and where you’re headed seems to relate to the relative scale of the furniture you’ve got in comparison to the wall behind it. I wouldn’t stress too much about comparing the two images, because once you have decent sized bookcases next to/behind the couch, everything will feel much better. 🙂
You’ll want a rounded coffee table for better flow and happier shins while getting to the couch, and either art or shelves above the couch (but between the bookcases) to get everything filled in. Once you make those changes, I think you’ll love the space!
Edit to add: I would add pillows in a bigger size behind the ones you already have, 2 or 3 inches taller. Your current pillows are also looking a bit flat, which can take away from that luxe feeling. If you can, I recommend buying nicer, fluffier inserts (sometimes getting one size bigger than the pillow case itself can really help with this). Also, the couch in the AI image has one more cushion; the eyes see odd numbers as slightly more desirable, so you could be feeling the difference when you look at your couch and see just two cushions in the seat area.

I think what you have now is gorgeous. Maybe the space will feel better with a little “breathing room.” Scoot everything away from the window by a few inches and give an inch or two between the sofa and side tables.
The visual weight is all against the window. Perhaps a cool lamp on the right side, plus some art above the sofa will help
