so we’re mounting our tv above our fireplace (please no comments about tvs being too high. i know. i’ve read the debates. there is literally nowhere else for it to go right now so it’s happening regardless lol).
the bigger issue is what to do with the fireplace itself. unfortunately it doesn’t work. my original plan was to just fill it with candles, but the more i think about it the more it feels a little… basic? like i’ve seen that idea everywhere.
then i found this insert online that you can put in the opening and i actually kind of like it, but i’m still not totally sold on it either.
i also started looking at other ideas like stacking decorative logs in there, using a couple oversized lanterns, or even doing one of those electric inserts that gives a fake flame effect. but i can’t decide if those would look better or just feel like i’m trying too hard.
i uploaded the listing photos of the house so you can see what the fireplace looks like without the very classy “tv balanced on two chairs” situation we currently have going on. i also added a couple candle ideas i originally liked plus what the rest of the living room looks like right now so you can get the overall vibe.
the space is still very much a work in progress and we also have a 14 month old who has basically taken over the entire house, so styling anything nicely lasts about 3 minutes.
curious what you all would do with the fireplace. go with the insert? candles? logs? something else? i also thew in some photos of a few other ideas i was considering. curious what others thoughts are.
