Just moved in and my living room feels pretty empty and unfinished.
I’m working with a limited budget and trying to make it feel cozy and stylish, but I’m not sure where to start
Main things I’m unsure about:
• The large empty wall on the left
• How to better define the living room area
• What kind of decor or furniture would make the biggest difference
The table is expandable and can accommodate 6 people
Open to any ideas (wall art, plants, lighting, layout changes, etc.)

You already know what you need.
CRAP.
Curtains. Art. Rugs. Plants or pillows
Also, lamps. Include indirect lighting and don’t use overhead lights if possible.
We can’t tell you _exactly_ what you need because we don’t know your style / vibe / goals / rest of your stuff, etc. So….
Start a Pinterest board and load up on rooms you like. As many as you are drawn to that are somewhat realistic for your space. Then, stalk FB marketplace and your local Buy Nothing or online swap meet sites looking for the items you want at a good price. You don’t have to do it all at once, but you can start with “placeholders” until you get your “real” pieces.

Tv will go on the wall with baseboard heater and bump out shelf thing.
Couch across the room from the tv. Back of the couch to the dining area. Keep the couch slightly closer to the right to center it to the tv and leave a walkway to the patio.
A nice big rug for the living room area that centers to the tv and couch.
Curtains from ceiling to floor and from wall to wall for the patio window/door.
As far as furniture goes: I’d buy an “L” shaped couch with one length of the couch along the big empty wall and the other length with the back to the dining room area as previously discussed. Then one big price of art of the empty wall above the couch.
If you have space you could put a console table behind the back of the couch that faces the dining room.
Here’s something to get you started. It’s pretty neutral, so you can add your own style from it. Artwork doesn’t have to be fancy. You can download digital art from Etsy for cheap and just print it on a color printer and get it framed.

It actually has great potential because the space is nice and open. I’d anchor the living area with a big rug and pull the seating closer together so it feels intentional. A large piece of art or a gallery wall on that long blank wall would help a lot too, and maybe a tall plant or floor lamp to add some height.
