So I got a dark wood table that I love but did not realize how dark it would look in my space. I need new dining chairs to go with the table but I am scared of buying chairs in the same tone because I'm worried it will be super dark. I can't put a rug under the table because I have two small kids who are extremely messy eaters and can't have upholstered dining chairs for the same reason. Would a light colored chair in a warm tone be okay? Or should I be looking for something completely different?

First pic is what I have currently. Second pic is the chair I'm interested in. Third pic is an AI generated image with the chairs.

I'm planning on eventually painting the walls an ivory or eggshell color. I'm also open to changing the warmth of the lighting.

I think this pendant light darkens things up a lot more than your table does. Big bold stripes of shadow for zero visual payoff.

The place needs brightening through lighting. Lose the overhead or get a better one, but also use wall sconces, standing lamps, and table lamps to add brightness from multiple angles in a diffused way.

The chairs aren’t the problem. Change the pendant lamp and get a rug. Would help if you add a bit of colour.

A modern chair, like an Eames style, would brighten your room and make it more modern while providing needed contrast
