Hello everyone, I'm a wine lover from England called Alex. I love to collect and try new wines, typically buying from my local Wine stores at between the $40 – $100 range. I have a Coravin system ( which has been a game changer). I have also done my Level 3 WSET.

My question is based around investing in wine. I want to invest really just to be able to afford to try bottles which I might not be able to usually afford. So…

– Are fine wines moving at the moment?

– Is there any ways to offload duplicated which have been taken out of bond – provided a don't enjoy the first of two bottles per se?

– Any other key things to know before getting into the world of fine wine collecting?

Any advice and feedback would be greatly apriated – if there is any other UK wine collectors out there then say hello!

Cheers – Alex

The answer is – don’t ‘invest’. It likely won’t end well. Or, invest into something else and use the proceeds to buy wine.

Buy wine you want to drink, now or after years/decades of cellaring. And, sure, leave the age-worthy wine in bond if you want flexibility to off-load it later on if/when your preferences change.

Make friends, taste together, share the cost that way – hopefully you’ve made some in your area when you did L2/L3.
