The title basically. My partner and I (30s FTBs) both, in a vacuum, kinda like the duvet cover in the first picture (we met in the tropics) it’s the only one we’ve agreed on so far but I can’t shake the teen theme bedroom vibe from my mind. We’re in theory going for a “cocaine chic” look throughout our new house but my lovely partner keeps defaulting towards comfortable sensible choices whenever I bring up something cool.. picture 2 is our bedroom with a too small older duvet we’re looking to upgrade. sometimes he doesn’t like elements I pick out but if I just go for it he’s happy with the overall look, which is tricky.
Walls won’t stay cream as they’re quite damaged and need paint either way, and I’ve included a duvet cover I kinda like as well as some inspo pics. Likewise we cant paint in the next few weeks but need a new duvet now, so it will be sort of on its own for a while
Should we just go for plain and un patterned hotel vibes again and introduce interest elsewhere? The bed is also a superking so it’s a LOT of whatever we decide on for the duvet. Maybe that but with a patterned throw on top? Shared some inspo pics of mine and the only bedroom one he’s shared with me. I welcome ANY thoughts

I don’t think it’s giving teen vibes more like Florida retirement home vibes. But if you like it then embrace it. Just make sure if you decorate your room around it then you better really like it.
It’s your private space, who’s gonna judge it? I use patterned duvets all the time — evergreen trees, florals, etc. usually with solid sheets.
I like it. Both of my duvet covers are heavily patterned florals. Life is too short for neutral everything.
I think it’s great, the trick will be to decorate so that it fits in without making everything feel like a theme park of the tropics. To me that’s what gives a bedroom teen vibes, either some theme is done way too much (Unicorns/Spongebob/etc. EVERYWHERE on EVERYTHING) or it’s just a bunch of random things that the person likes but don’t harmonize.
