My end goal is to "warm up" this bathroom – starting primarily with painting the walls and switching out the mirror and fixtures with something gold or brassy. My vanity base is some sort of engineered wood with a laminate-like veneer, and it is this cool grey tone that I really dislike.

For now, replacing it isn't in the cards. So I'm wondering if I could lightly sand it and either prime/paint or adhere some sort of peel and stick paper or something. I know these things aren't meant to be altered like this, but I'm looking for a shorter term solution until I'm ready to replace.
