It’s in the “room” adjacent to my bathroom. I don’t have tons of money or energy but this spot is visible from the entire home so it needs some help. Thanks!
What is the staircase for? I would remove that and put maybe glass door on the closet?

Home office,I would remove the shelves or whatever they are at the bottom, out a small table to act as a work space,and use tge shelves for computer speaker system,books,decorative boxes for office supplies,etc and move a rolling chair for comfort

Patterned contact paper or peel and stick wall paper on the front of the stairs and back wall might be nice. Maybe paint the top of the stairs a solid color. Also get nice storage boxes.

Ok so the stairs are perplexing. Can they be removed? If not, well, either clear out those shelves and replace with knick knacks, or cover with a kitchen window length curtain. You could use white or a pretty pattern.
I would definitely move the shoes from there and maybe use the steps as a cute little display or even shelve a few books. I would also paint the stairs if I couldn’t take them out. Just a couple of coats of white would freshen them up. But you could paint the treads a color (black, dark blue, green or some color that matches in your house) and then use them to display something cute.
You could add a plant into the mix, peace lily doesn’t care for bright window lighting.
Or little plastic plants or succulents.
Could arrange some baskets on the steps. There are many possibilities here.
