I feel like this room looks majorly unfinished. Need suggestions.

above the tv? You have a lamp and plant already filling the corners.

I don’t see *dead* space. I see negative space that gives the stuff you have some room so your eyes can rest. It’s particularly important around a TV.

This looks nice. It’s just a scale issue. The plant is too small for that corner, the lamp is too small for its corner. Either scale the plant up 40-50% or keep that one and add a smaller companion plant in front of it and off the side to help fill some negative space. As for the lamp, a less spindly option would fill it better. Or a table with a table lamp. Nesting tables are a cute layering tactic for filling negative space, then a lamp can just go on the larger table. If you want something above the TV, hang some artwork, but I personally haven’t ever liked the look of TV with artwork above it. It just looks too distracting. Also, I feel your rug needs to be a touch bigger. If you wanna go the budget route an easy way to add some more “maximalist” energy (that flies in the face of negative space) is to layer. So layer this smaller rug onto a larger, cheaper, more blank canvas rug. I would take the edge of a rug just up to tv credenza and 6-10in from either wall.

either your tv is too big or the console it rests on is too small. it looks like a unit which is why it’s so off. you also need a bit of color either with wall art or a carpet or maybe a small armchair next to that lamp?

I would get a longer cabinet. Ideally, the width of the TV should be about two-thirds the width of the cabinet, but that’s hard to do with a big TV! The cabinet should always be wider than the TV, though. Make sure the TV and cabinet are centered on the wall. I’d also make sure the rug and couch are centered, too, if possible.

Move the lamp out from the corner slightly so it provides a bit more visual weight on that wall. I’d probably replace the arc floor lamp with a straight one since it’s not providing light over seating.

A taller plant might be nice on the right, but you could also hang some art there instead.

Lower the art on the left wall so the middle of the piece is between 57 and 60 inches from the floor.

I personally like wall paper, large scale

Corner chair for that floor lamp

Maybe a corner shelf ? The objects at the corner of the tv would annoy me …so perhaps a corner shelf or floating shelves to put them on.

You could put in a chair on either side slightly turned toward the ottoman which would give you more seating and also give a reason to physically occupy that space, making it feel like under-utilized.

The tv stand should’ve been wider. The scale of the stand and tv are not vibing!
