Been loving this Rioja and think it’s good for a bottle under 15 bucks, does anyone have similar recommendations for riojas or something else you like in the under 20 price range if you like this? I also love malbecs and cab savs 😊 thanks in advance!!

  1. I just tried the Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva – 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Granted I’m pretty much brand new to wine but learning quick and loving Spanish wines.

What’s gonna be available is going to be highly dependent on where you live. Generally speaking if it’s Rioja (or Ribera del Duero) aged Crianza or higher, and is 15 bucks or cheaper, I’d buy it. That strategy has served me well over the years.

The really classic Rioja stuff that you’ll get recs on on this sub (Muga, Lopez de Heredia etc.) are excellent wines but are gonna run you well north of $15.

I just tried LAN’s 2018 Rioja Reserva (Blue Label) and was pretty taken aback at how balanced it was. Hits a lot of the spiciness in the terroir, but it’s not nearly as bone-dry or hot as MdC.
