Fell in love with Patrimony after we went wine tasting there a year ago.
I had pre-conceived notions about Daou until that experience.
Opened the bottle two hours before dinner and gave it a decant. First sip was very tight.
Brought it to dinner at Trestle, which was lovely.
Opened up nicely with additional decanting.
Picked up notes of dark cherry, dark plum, blackberry, clove, saunf (fennel), persimmon?
Also some dark chocolate, cinnamon, maybe nutmeg, slight vanilla.
Beautiful wine, paired very well with the tasting menu.
This is in a good place now, may get better over time.
93 points.
