Translation of the official tasting notes:
„The Grauburgunder is distinguished by a long period of skin contact, which gives the wine remarkable complexity and depth. On the nose, it presents an intense, fruity aroma reminiscent of passion fruit. This exotic fruit lends the wine a lively and fresh character. In addition, distinct hints of flint can be perceived, highlighting the wine’s mineral structure. On the palate, the Grauburgunder is full-bodied and elegant. Overall, this is an expressive wine with a harmonious balance of fruit, minerality, and structure.“
I enjoyed this wine. I think the description is quite fitting. It is definitely a rather complex Pinot Gris with deeper flavors thanks to the longer than usual maceration. You can see the impact of the long skin contact in the second picture.
Besides all that it is still very fruity and typically easy drinking. I’m mildly disappointed that I couldn’t find the flint myself but am still very happy with it overall especially for the price of 11,50 €.
