Our new sofa arrived this morning, and I want to replace these IKEA curtains. Initially I was set on drapes but they're somewhat impractical here since we have to have the sofa up close to the wall on both sides. Our living room is a bit on the small side and the front door opens right into it.

I'd like to add more color and pattern via the window coverings. I find a lot more options for fabrics with curtains vs shades but the weird window sizes and everything is leaving me in 'shades' territory, especially when I consider how difficult it is to have curtains stuck behind the sofa. I am not opposed to curtains, especially since I'm not loving the shades I'm currently finding but I have to be open minded.

Of note: the Kitty Kat Highway must stay along with her ingress/egress platforms. More art is coming, but it has to be framed. We hate the cheap white poopy rug but it's protecting the larger rug and I didn't have a lot of cash when I bought it. When I can, I'll find another solution.

I like what youre doing! I think a different paint color would be nice to allow the curtains and rug to pop

I would probably use paint to bring in color and then add shades for the windows. I think the rug brings in a ton of pattern and can stand alone.
