So I haven't had too many near 100 pt wines. But this was better than the Opus one I got to try recently. I used to drink cheap grocery store cabs until I found a local wine shop that has introduced me to so many great bottles and varieties. Last night I attended a tasting at the shop and after sampling many Spanish and Portuguese wines the owner pulled this bad boy out. Man. This was without a doubt the most structured can I've tasted. Earthy, velvety and blackberry-ish without being overly oaked or bomby whatsoever. Just so complex and the wine seemed to evolve more and more with each sip. I can't imagine how good it would be given some time to decant.

Thanks for reading my first post and I have enjoyed reading others on here. I really appreciate the wine pros who take the time to come on here and drop knowledge. If I could offer any advice to the folks looking for the "best grocery store cab under $xx" it would be, get outta the damn grocery and find a local wine shop that actually cares about sustainably sourced wines. Build a relationship and start learning from them. And don't be afraid to try new things. Your palate will evolve, I guarantee it.
