Looking to get to new curtains. Should they be lifted up higher? Touching the floor? White linen or something different? I prefer to keep them closed for privacy but still be able to see out so roman shades aren’t my first pick

I think they’d look good if you hemmed them! And if you wanted to block light you could put a white curtain behind em

Could be cool to try this.
Definitely hang them higher and wider with more substantial rods. I like to do about 3-4 inches from the ceiling and 6-8 inches wider the window. There are lots of tutorials for where to mount curtains! I would check out youtube. If you want to be able to see out, stick with a sheer, so not linen.
Devinitely all the way to the ceiling. For privacy, have you ever thought of top-down-bottum-up cellular shades? I recently put sheer ones on my front windows and keep them so that the bottom 1/2 of the window is covered and the top 1/2 if left open. This would give you the look of having the curtains open, but still give you the privacy
