We are having our 30 yr old floors refinished after some water damage and I want to do something cool, but I’m not sure if what I’m envisioning will look right. Our house is definitely more traditional but it’s open concept other than our dining room. At some point we will change the wall color (too coastal, but it was too late to change at the time). I like modern but cozy and I love jewel tones. I’m going with a Tonester paint, most likely Storms in Paris. Since staining the railing and spindles cost too much, I’m thinking of going all out with the paint color other than the treads, which will be stained. I’m thinking of this everywhere but the treads. Is that too much? I need to decide soon as it’s being done in a few weeks. I’m trying to branch out, so please be nice! 😂

I love that colour and commend you for the courage but I’m sorry I don’t think it’ll work 🙁 with the open concept and style of house it’ll just stick out like a sore thumb if rest is not in similar style. I think the space is too large and bright too (which is a good thing!) but this type of colour is more for a dark moody area. If you want something fun you could look at a patterned tile or painted pattern on the risers?

NO. Paint the white, leave the wood alone. Strip the spindles, bring them back to wood.
