Depending where we are drawing the line for “cheap” (I’m thinking 20 usd or less range) that really changes the conversation. Obviously you have your carlo rossis of the world, but Im gonna go for “any chardonnay that has the word butter/buttery on the bottle”

In college my only experience with wine had been Andre “champagne” from the 7/11 that never asked for ID, and boxed Franzia “Chillable Red”. But those pale in comparison to the one time a friend came over with a bottle of Cupcake Merlot. It almost ruined wine for me forever. Sixteen years later and I can still recall the synthetic bubblegum fighting the artificial vanilla in my mouth, either side refusing to yield, both wanting to cause me more disgust than the other.
So, my humble vote, is Cupcake. Especially Cupcake Merlot.
