Me and my girlfriend just bought our first house, everything in the room will go apart from the couch we bought, which I think is to big but she thinks it is fine
I’m not sure on where to put it or use as a focal point.
Yes the couch is much too big. Ideally you should have the couch along the wall and the TV on the opposite wall and not obstruct the sliding door into the garden. You should just have a 3 seater the room is too small for anything else.

I agree, the couch is modular so we could make it smaller and put it along side that wall.

The couch is absolutely too big for the room. What were you both thinking here? Get that tv off of the wall. Put it on a credenza to the right of the fireplace. Then get a new three seat couch, an accent chair, end table, lamp and coffee table. Sofa should face the fireplace/tv wall.
