Did you know Hundred Acre does Barossa Shiraz? Well, they did, from 2004-2010.
Valentine's Day bottle.
Paired with spicy vegetarian nachos at home.
Gave this a half hour decant before drinking.
Initially, a little jammy, but developed nicely over dinner into a more complex Barossa Shiraz.
This really feels like an Aussie Shiraz made in a Napa style.
The jamminess went away and developed into a fruit-forward, but complex and deep Shiraz.
Blackberry, dark plum, slight cocoa.
Alongside that, clove, eucalyptus, slight cinnamon bark.
Tannins really mellow, almost velvety at this point.
Slightly painty on the palate, in a good way.
I've always been a huge Hundred Acre fan and glad to see that approach works well for Shiraz as well.
93 points.
