Spent valentines with a couple of friends and brought a 1989 Latour I got from auction. Fill level was around bottom neck which I was very pleased with.
Zero mold under the capsule and the cork removed very easily with a Durand. Upon pouring a small sample, the color was gorgeous and the nose was screaming out of the glass. Nose upon pouring let me know it needed about 30 minutes in the bottle.
Upon pouring in the glass, the wine had already started to open with a nose of fresh flowers and ripe strawberries. The flavor was notes of fruit, graphite, with a finish with medium-medium strong tannins. The wine developed in the glass over the next hour, showcasing more dark fruits on the finish.
Served with some chocolates from Eleven Madison Park. My only complaint was that my friends now blame me for ruining their wine palette.
This was a fantastic wine and honestly could have gone another 5 years at least.

Wine sounds great. Interesting pairing choice.
