My chianti knowledge is quite limited so pardon me for any mistakes.
Lamole is one of 11 subregions (UGAs) in Chianti. It’s high altitude with steep terraced vineyards with large temperature variations. It is primarily situated on sandstone soil, with high drainage, forcing the roots deep. All together creating elegant, perfumed and floral wines.
Jurij Fiore & Figlia is but one of 8 producers in Lamole and this wine NonLoSò 2018 is no 397 out of 564. 100% Sangiovese.
Medium red in colour, with a tinge of brownish touch. Quite indulging on the nose and if this was blind I could easily have drifted towards a Bordeaux if not for the spices. A mix of deep cherries, tobacco, leather, varm spices like cinnamon, a hint of vanilla, some herbs. Maybe a bit of menthol.
Everything to my taste, great balance, ethereal without being light, silky without being boring. Pure, delightful but miss a bit of length and complexity to really wow me.
