Wow, what a tasting with an amazing set of friends. Everything was tasted blind.

As there are too many wines, I will list my favourites of the night. Sorry, it’s a long one!

Keller Hubacker 2009:

Keller for me is the Riesling King, the elegance, complexity and verticality that they put in the bottles is just outstanding! I love minerality driven wines, so obviously Hubacker is far up on my list. The nose very parfumed and very citric, on the palate straightforward but the wine lingers in your mouth forever, changing all the while and leaving you enthusiastic for another sip!

Maison Leroy Bourgougne 2016:

When this was revealed I was just so stunned how you can make this much out of a Bourgougne. The complexity and structure this white brings is out of this world. Very clearly oak driven on the nose, but also loads of different stone fruits and a florar touch that brings it all together. The minerality and acidity that come in the mouth are what brought me straight to Burgundy and that is also what I love about this regions whites! Also this wine goes on forever and begs for more.

Staatsweingut Eltville Steinberger Riesling Cabinet 1967:

For it being a wine with almost 60 years of age it was outstanding! The color was almost caramel, the nose was quite damp, almost a little like a wet old wine cellar. Very subtle honey and floral notes. On the palate this thing was singing and kicking like old grandpa during bingo night. Amazing structure for a wine of this age! Great bottle!

White of the night:

Domaine Leflaive – Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon

A light smoaky nose paired with an incredible amount of different fruits, this wine was seducing me with the charme of a James Bond affair. Sexy, elegant, dressed to impressed, this wine had it all! On the palate it just kept on going, outshining everything we had before. Concentrated aromas, but perfectly balanced, minerality, acidity, all on point!

Vega Sicilia Unico 1985:

41 years and not holding back! For me Unico is one of these pivotal wines,a grail some might say, that makes you rethink all red wines you’ve ever drunk. With prolonged aging, the wine becomes elegant, subtle, graceful, the wood balances itself in the wine and speaks to you in a soft voice. Dark cherries, raspberries and amazing earthy tones gives this wine an amazing complexity.

Sine Qua Non The Other Hand 1995

When we’ve tried this, eberybody was lost for words. I have not had many red wines like this. Also, almost 30 years and it tasted like it was bottled yesterday. The fruits, the concentration, everything was just perfect! This was by far the wine of the night! it’s even hard to describe how good this stuff is. Thank god I have friends like that, because getting these bottles in Europe is almost impossible.

To everybody that made it this far! Cheers!
