How to redesign this kitchen without renovation?

I’m renting and absolutely HATE this kitchen layout. I’m looking if anyone could help me make this look cleaner, more modernised etc.

I’m renting so I am unable to renovate, but I am looking into renter friendly back splash peel and stick tiles, vinyl covers for the cupboards, etc.

I just don’t know what to do with the gap above the outdated sink, and the random cupboard on the far left.
