Prefacing – I know there are actual limewash paints and/or you can use one paint color and add water to get the limewash effect but that’s not my intention.
I want to limewash my bedroom in a green shade. I got three different samples from Benjamin Moore and honestly looking at all three, I like all of the colors. I’m now considering using all 3 colors and creating dividers within my paint tray so my brush can touch all three to create the color.
Has anyone ever limewashed with more than two paints and how did it come out? Were you happy? For anyone curious, the colors I got:
Windsor Green: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/cw-505/windsor-green
Timson Green: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/cw-470/timson-green
Dill Pickle: https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/2147-40/dill-pickle
My original intention was to go for a warm/golden green limewash and I knew I wanted to do a dark green and then a lighter yellow-green to get that warmth. Windsor Green was always my first choice for the deep green and I liked Dill Pickle for the lighter shade. I saw Timson Green in store and decided to buy that as a sample (based on the paper swatch) and have this maybe be the darker shade instead of Windsor Green. When I got home and opened the samples, Timson Green looked too light to paint against Dill Pickle to create that much depth but it has the warmth I want and looks like it could be a good middle color to bridge Windsor Green and Dill Pickle.
Thoughts on the three shades together? Any insight from anyone who’s limewashed with more than two paints? Is it even considered limewashing if it’s more than two? Thanks!

Last post, here are the three samples. From L to R – Windsor Green, Timson Green, Dill Pickle.
Windsor looks more gray toned in the photos vs IRL
