I'm having a handmade rug commissioned for my bedroom, and am wondering if these dimensions look good. Currently the sheet is folded to measure 8ft x 2ft. Does it need to be wider, or does this look proportional for the space?
Functionally, this seems like an odd place for a runner, especially on top of carpet. I think it’ll be a tripping hazard since rugs never lay flat on soft surfaces. If it’s purely for aesthetics and you really must put a runner here, then I would center it between the bed and the wall and make it the same length (or a little less) than the foot of the bed.

To answer your question, it honestly looks too wide to me. It should either match the width of the bed or be a little shorter.
As an aside, putting rugs on carpets doesn’t really make sense. Not sure what you’re trying to accomplish, but I’m sure there are better ways to add visual appeal to your space without putting a runner in such an odd place.
