I didn’t choose the lamp. My partner’s father was fixing my old lamp and kinda broke it. He offered to replace it and I searched the internet and couldn’t find a lamp that looked exactly as my old lamp (it had to be identical bc I have a matching table lamp. It was also a FB marketplace find so I can’t just find it where it was originally purchased bc I don’t know where it was purchased). Eventually I just bought a new lamp socket and settled w just fixing my old lamp and keeping it (it still looks like it might fall apart eventually).

My partner’s father came and dropped off this big lamp a few days ago. I tried making it clear that I didn’t want it but he was like “eh, it might grow on you “. Anyways, I now have this huge lamp to deal with. I will say that it’s growing on me. The color contrasts well next to the plants but still looks a bit too big -I think the intention was that it would replace my current damaged floor lamp but I still prefer it either way so I just moved the new lamp by the TV.

What are your thoughts?

Ps – please be kind.

I like it better than the table lamps, but it’s too big and too similar to those table lamps. Three tripod lamps in one small room is a lot!

I’d probably replace the small one in the back left corner by the couch with this larger one (if there’s room) and get a different style table lamp for the side table on the other end of the couch.

I wonder if you could switch the big lamp and smaller lamp to give better balance. Right now, the big lamp is too big next to the TV and competes with the hanging light fixture.

It’s super cute. I think you should leave the bigger brown one out, it brings more color into the space. Maybe put the white one in your bedroom. I love the hello kitty mug ☺️

Can you re-cover the shade with something to give it a little life? Like maybe a print? Or spray paint the legs to match the other lamps? You could make it work a little better by turning it into an accent piece in that corner. Don’t know what your partner’s father might think, though.
