Advice on rug and hand towel colors

Hi all, I'm updating from a gray on gray bathroom to:

• Switching out hardware for brushed gold (towel holders, faucets, pulls, lights)
• New hand towels
• New vanity rug

I'm hoping to make it feel a little less cold and bring some warmth and spa vibes. 

We just got this sage rug today and wanted to get your honest take on it. I personally like it but my husband says he prefers something more dramatic like a dark blue, which is the opposite of what I was going for. 

Rug we received in sage. I would entertain the camel color.

I would appreciate any ideas on hand towel colors too, I feel so lost. Thank you!
