You cannot mention Alsatian Riesling without mentioning Trimbach. Legendary Wine producer from France continuing on the legacy of the Trimbach name.

This Riesling starts with bright acidity but after you let it breathe and settle in it is one of the most beautiful expressions of the grape regardless of region. Leaning more towards the drier end of the spectrum this wine still pleases my preferred sweet palate.

Pierre Trimbach passed away in a motor vehicle accident this passed weekend. His legacy will live on through every bottle and every glass of Trimbach poured for the rest of time. Rest in peace 🙏🏽

Trimbach Riesling is a single-variety Riesling white wine from Alsace AOC made by Trimbach.

Trimbach is a winery dating back to 1626 and located in the medieval city of Ribeauvillé. The Trimbach family has been at the helm for 13 generations and currently has over 15,000 hectares of vineyards. About 1,600 of these are classified as Grand Cru. Throughout their history they have produced fruity but structured, elegant, balanced and long-living wines. The wine is not aged in foudres or barrels but it always spends a few months or years aging in the bottle in the winery so it is at its best when it reaches the market.

The soils where the Trimbach Riesling grapes grow are formed with marl, limestone and sandstone. The area has a semi-continental climate, with cold and dry winters and hot summers. There is relatively little rainfall because the area is protected by the Vosges mountains.

To make the Trimbach Riesling, the grapes are gently pressed when they get to the winery and then the must is cleaned using gravity. It then ferments in stainless steel vats and is finally bottled without undergoing malolactic fermentation so that the wine retains its full freshness and great aging potential.

Trimbach Riesling is a vibrant and precise white with citrus and quince notes, an interesting minerality and good aging potential.
