The seating should be spaced together more so that it makes a comfortable conversation area, on top of a really big rug to take up some of that massive empty floor space

I’d start by adding a rug. Right now all the furniture is floating and it feels unsettling. Make sure the rug is big enough for all furniture to have at least their front legs on it. Then I would get some sort of coffee table. Floor length curtains might also look nice
