I don’t really have an eye for color combinations or decor, but this is the grayest house I’ve ever seen. Any thoughts on colors I can use without clashing too hard with some of the existing undertones? The floors for example, are also gray, but it’s not in the budget to replace them right now. Not sure what color rugs and things might complement them? Any thoughts?

May I recommend Tonester paints? I think their Brooklyn Vogue would look good in this space- if you paint the island as well. They have lots of great colors.
You can paint the stairs and island the same color, and have another (lighter) color on the walls. Different furniture, and can replace the chrome hardware with black. Can find some colorful globes for the lights, hang some paintings, fun dish towels
I’d say a different color paint, and update light fixtures to start. Update the furniture. Then maybe down the road update the banister and…is the staircase carpet?? Could update that to wood? It’s a really cute kitchen with lots of natural light it seems, I like it!
I would be suspicious of this house because I would assume it was done by a flipper using the least expensive materials and cutting corners wherever possible.
Everything about the kitchen layout would drive me crazy including why they left a tiny gap in the upper cabinets rather than bring cabinets to the ceiling or at least at some kind of crown molding or filler so you don’t have the ga.
Just change the grey and beige paint. If you’re not sure what colour, use white and bring in warmer accents like artwork, pull in natural textures – wood, plants, baskets. Things that are the complete opposite of a jail cell.
If they’re using cool compact fluorescent or LED bulbs, switch to super warm options. Cheap fix.
It’s a crime to create so many grey & beige homes. Totally impacts mood and shows a lack of taste.
