Very interesting wine from Rajar Parr. Slightly cloudy and with a bit of gas, pale ruby pink. The nose explodes out of the glass with raspberry, strawberry, and an old world-ish earthy funk. On the palette: one of the highest acid reds I have ever had. RIPPING acidity – way past most of the high acid reds I often drink and into Riesling levels. A strong dose of sour raspberries or even cranberries and pomegranate, a faint touch of something herbal (sage? rosemary?), and then fine tannins at the end. Just enough tannin and body for their to be some weight to the mouthfeel, but still very lifted and acidity-dominated. Pretty long finish. Went well with mu shu pork!
Definitely feels a little “natural,” and not my absolute favorite style, but I think it’s high quality and interesting. I’ll say 93 points. ~ $60.
