I brought this pair of Dauvissat beauties from Vaillons to a dinner with a group of very generous friends last Monday night.
The 2011 showed the subtleties of the vintage. Though it lacked some intensity of fruit, it was nuanced and smooth with savory minerality and super classic. It felt like a wine from another era.
The 2019 showed the radiance of the vintage but with that great verve that comes from 2019. Bursting with citrus and sweet florality on the nose. The exuberant palate was full of juicy Meyer lemons, salty oyster shells, and youthful deliciousness. Needs time, but already drinking very well.
