Hey all – we are first time buyers and so excited! We’re gonna be upgrading most of our furniture as my wife and I have collected a bunch of random stuff throughout the years. We are having so much trouble figuring out what color scheme won’t clash with our floors and get the vibe we are looking for – especially on dining table (it’ll go under the hanging light fixture in the pictures). I lean modern farmhouse with natural woods, my wife leans more rustic with darker open pore woods. I’m worried darker woods will clash with our floor. Also – any ideas on what kind colors in a rug in the living room would be greatly appreciated!
Our floors are a brown oak with some gray undertones (pictured), white walls, and open floor plan so worth mentioning a navy painted kitchen island. We decided on a sectional we love with some accent pillows (pictured), but can’t decide on much other furniture after that.
Any inspiration on colors/styles would be helpful! Attached a couple pictures of the house and the couch we picked out, as well as a table I like (lighter) and a table she likes (darker).

A tasteful house will mix and match some colors and finishes. All within reason of course, but too much matching looks cheap and lazy.
Look at inspiration pictures for homes in your desired style and you’ll notice some tasteful variation.
