Some of Lurquin’s best wines are his Rosé – both the Champagne and Coteaux Champenois.

🔥 WOTN

Champagne Saignée Meunier Rose 2019

Deep, vinous, and playful. This truly shines. Juicy, plush blood orange, strawberry, slight oxidative and nutty. Rather singular. Savoury finish, unanimous WOTN.

A Mini Vertical of Les Forcières Pinot Noir 2017/18/19

If i rmbr correctly, 17 was a little cheesy on the nose. 18 was a little rounder, riper red fruits and better midpalate presence. 19 imo is most complete of the three. Depth, clarity, and salinity all in sync. Young but effortless and impressive.

Millésimé Chardonnay 2013 (late disgorged 2023)

Was really looking forward to this, but was a little disappointed at the moment. Sharp, electric acidity, like freshly squeezed lemon. Toned down a little with air. Pure, linear, and incredibly fresh. Brioche and bruised apple. Somehow, the oldest vintage tasted the youngest. Potential upside with further bottle age, but not my fav tonight.

Les Crayères du Levant 2015 – Same vintage & plot, Two Diff Grapes

Chardonnay – Chalky tension, precision over power. Clean and Elegant. Lurquin can age well!

Meunier –

Broader, fleshier, more brioche. Depth without heaviness. Lurquin is often associated with mouse, fortunately, most bottles showed none of that tonight except of this, with just a touch of dirty, moussy note but not overwhelming.

🍷 Coteaux Champenois

Les Forcières Pinot Noir à l’état pur 2019

Reminded me of a Jura rouge on the nose. Floral, banyard, very aromatic. The palate is a touch too grippy though.

Meunier à l’état pur 2020

This was more burgundian like. No way to blind this as a Meunier still wine. Red fruits and some spice. Silky and elegant on the palate.

All in all, i do prefer AL’s CC to his Champagne, bar some.
