2020 Foillard Corcelette

This is a hauntingly beautiful wine, and it's at peak right now, with the youthful energy playing melody over emerging undertones. Notes from a bottle I opened a couple of months ago, which haven't changed.

Five spice, sandalwood, and crushed cranberry on the nose. Invisible tannins, M+ acidity. Soft palate, floral notes on the open evolve to gravel and mineral tones on the medium finish, accompanied throughout by a background of red berries.

  1. Not drinking enough cru Beaujolais that’s for sure! But did have a Thevenet Morgon a month ago that was stellar.

I’m drinking a disappointingly mediocre champagne. I won’t trouble you with any further details.

  3. I hen people say they don’t like Beaujolais, this is the wine to give them. It brought it to a blind tasting and everyone thought it was an Oregon Pinot, burgundy, etc and it was very well received.

Georg Breuer 2020 Estate Rauenthal. Such a lovely mature village-level Riesling, at an unbelievable $15 at PJ wine. So aromatic, honeyed mineral nose with herbs. Kind of an oily texture. Super crisp palette of lime and saline. With takeout Thai. So good!

LaRue Rice-Spivak 2018. First time with this winemaker and certainly not the last

New to wine as a hobby, had the normal Justin Cab. The wife and I really enjoyed it!

Drinking one of our “house wines” tonight, a cheap and cheerful Argentine pinot noir, Manos Negra, which was perfect with the Chinook salmon I did in a cast skillet.
The Manos Negra is very light in colour and body, but is quite enjoyable, in a very subtle and delicate way ….
