So last week I posted some options and wanted to get some feedback just to see if my thoughts aligned with those of others. I pushed this back a week as I still wasn’t 100% sure which style wall to go with.

My initial thought was to go with the board and batten, but like others pointed out, I felt that the board and batten feature wall was almost too distracting to have behind a TV. I like the horizontal shiplap, but also felt that there were too many horizontal lines in the room already.

So I had another idea…. Since this is going to be technically a “movie room” I thought how about if I add two columns to either side of the shiplap with some wall sconces to make it more “movie theater” like. My contractor felt it was a great idea and gave me back these images to decide on. I feel like the vertical columns are bold and just enough to break up all the horizontal lines already on that wall, and the large shiplap will still be minimal behind the TV.

Wanted to see what others thought so please give me your opinions whether good or bad. Also, should I go with the columns, should I paint them the color of the wall or have them match the cabinetry and shelves…?

I love the first option with the columns painted the same color as the wall. It looks too bold and distracting if it matched the cabinetry. Although I do love the sconces on the column, I don’t think you’d realistically use them since the light will cause glare on the tv. But if it’s just decorative, go for it!
